Royal Homes and Habitat for Humanity Huron County delivered a spectacular Christmas present for a wonderful family, just in time for the holidays.
A custom home for Patti and her girls Mowava and Lia, 10 and 8, was set by crane in Goderich as a gentle snow fell. The event was big news for CTV London, which filed a full report on the custom home delivery.
“It was super-neat,” Patti said after watching two prefab modules glide through the air onto a full foundation.

“It’s just amazing that all of our hard work finally paid off and we’ve accomplished what my dream has been — to give my girls a Forever Home.”
A few days earlier, Patti completed 500 hours of volunteer work on the project.
A year ago, Royal delivered a home in Seaforth for Habitat for Humanity Huron County. It’s a partnership that provides housing solutions for families in need.
“It’s fantastic,” Cheryl Jefferson, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Huron County, said of working with Royal Homes.
“We decided to go with Royal Homes because of our volunteers — we weren’t able to keep them safe on things like roofing. We couldn’t get the hours from them to do framing of the main floor. So it was a very logical engagement with Royal Homes.”

Royal does the main floor, the basics, the roof, Jefferson explained. Habitat still does the footings, foundation, basement and basement insulation.
“Then we can get volunteers in to do painting, the trim, to do the doors,” Jefferson said.
“We have local contractors that are more than happy to work with us to do things like kitchen cabinets, flooring, so on. So, it’s a very good partnership with Royal Homes.”
In the past five years, Royal has also delivered Habitat for Humanity Homes in Stayner, Collingwood and Bobcaygeon.
